Dr Tara Coppinger
Tara is a Conferred Fellow of the Association for Nutrition, a Registered Nutritionist (Public Health), and a member of the Editorial Board of BMC Sports Science, Medicine and Rehabilitation. Her research focuses on nutrition and physical activity interventions across the life course, with particular emphasis on targeted programmes supporting individuals living with serious mental illness. She has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, secured over €1 million in funding and her research has achieved international recognition, including an award from the United Nations Interagency Task Force on NCDs in acknowledgement of her team’s outstanding contribution to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
With more than twenty years’ experience as a lecturer and researcher in higher education, Tara has served as Global Lead and Academic Constituency Member of the Nutrition Society Membership Committee and was a Research Ethics Committee Board Member at MTU for over a decade. She co-chairs the HEX-SPO Research Group at MTU and was instrumental in its establishment and development into an officially recognised Research Centre in 2016.
